I have lived in Vernon for over 45 years. I have had the great privilege of being a mother of two lovely (now adult) daughters. I am a playful, passionate person, who loves travel, art, reading, camping, my puppy Fynn, and a life-long desire to learn and grow.
As a provider of DBT, I take pride in offering comprehensive counselling services for adolescents and adults. I have over six years of DBT practice experience and Intensive DBT training. I am dedicated to serving the needs of my clients. Reflecting up to date research, I use DBT with all clients to address emotional struggles, despite the diagnosis.
I am a registered social worker RSW, with a Masters degree in Social Work (Mental health clinical focus) and have also received training from Behavioral Tech LLC in Seattle (home of DBT founder, Marsha Linehan). I also have completed an Oxford Cognitive Behavior Therapy on line training program and I am a Clinical Traumatologist, completing a program with Traumatology Institute of Canada. I also hold certificates in DBT skills training, Validation skills, Behavior Chain Analysis, Exposure therapy, and additional training in Suicide prevention and Postvention. I have clinical supervision education and experience, as well as Okanagan College Transitioning to Management certificates. I can provide team building activities around burnout and compassion fatigue, as well as presentations on DBT, DBT-friendly service, and skill training. I offer half days and full days training to professional staff and am available for consultation from a DBT perspective.
I have over 17 year of counselling and therapy experience in Vernon, across the lifespan with individuals with mild to severe mental health struggles, counselling groups, couples, and families, as well as presenting and adult education.
